Triphammer Wines & Spirits hosted the 8th annual “An Evening to Remember” event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014 from 5:30-9:00pm. The gala was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Trip Hotel Ithaca (formerly the Clarion Hotel), located at One Sheraton Drive, Ithaca NY. 100% of ticket and auction proceeds from this event will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY.

The event once again offered guests extensive food and wine tastings from local restaurants and wineries, as well as a beer garden with a variety of craft beers. There was also both a live and on-line silent auction, and live music by local talent. All participating restaurants, distributors, musicians, and other sponsors can be viewed on the Sponsor Page link at the bottom of this page.

This event was founded by Julie Crowley (owner of Triphammer Wines and Spirits and Ithaca Coffee Company) in 2007, when her mother Patricia Crowley was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Julie has said that her mother, who passed away in June of 2012, would be, "so proud of the support in our community for this worthy cause. I am grateful to the local organizations who have become involved with our Gala-as sponsors and volunteers.”

We are currently calculating the total money raised for 2014. Of those proceeds, the majority will got to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, with a portion earmarked for scholarships being developed in collaboration with GST BOCES. GST BOCES offers a Certified Nurse Aide Transition to Home Health Aide Program, which is a 28 hour course to meet the rising demand among the aging for home health care rather than transition to nursing homes. The trainings are currently held in Elmira, but GST BOCES would like to work with one of the Healthcare providers or BOCES in Tompkins county to perhaps hold the classes in the Ithaca area. We always do our best to have some portion of the gala funds stay here in Tompkins County.

So many of us are directly affected by this disease, either through a family member or friend, the gala committee hopes you find value in this event and continue to be a part of this very worthwhile cause. Community support of this event is essential. For more information and to help spread the word, you can “Like” and “Share” the gala Facebook page.
