About the Region: Cayuga Lake is the longest of the Finger Lakes and in 1987 was the first individual lake of the Finger Lakes to earn its own AVA approval. With eastern exposures, vineyards are bathed in early morning sunshine, which helps to ripen their grapes in this northern, cool-climate region. Vineyard elevations never exceed 800 feet above the lake's surface and steep slopes run down to its shore, facilitating air patterns that create a unique microclimate in autumn creating a perfect harvest season.

About the Tour: While the specific bottles will change depending on availability, producers may include some of the following:

Treleaven Wines by King Ferry Winery
In 1984 after a visit to California wine country, Peter Saltonstall decided the family farm back in upstate NY might be suitable for growing high quality vinifera vines. Thus, started the Saltonstall passion for wine-making. As the oldest winery on the east side of Cayuga Lake, Treleaven has been crafting fine vinifera wines and fun proprietary blends for over 30 years.

Randolph O'Neil Vineyard
Randolph O'Neill Vineyard is the husband and wife team of Angela (née Randolph) and Kelley O'Neill. It grew from their mutual love for great wine and a gorgeous land. Kelley and Angela intend for ROV to remain small, producing hundreds of cases rather than thousands. This means they can always guarantee a high level of attention to detail and devotion to quality.

Lucas Vineyards
Four decades of grape growing and fine wine making have won the Lucas family International and regional acclaim since 1980. The famous, nautically-inspired "Tug Boat" and "Nautie" wines sport colorful bottles and spectacular labels, completing a diverse collection of estate-grown vinifera, method-champenoise sparkling and iced wines.

Sheldrake Point Winery
Sheldrake Point Winery was founded in 1997 by a small group of wine enthusiasts led by Greg Sandor, who organized the purchase of the former 155-acre lakeshore farm that is now the vineyard. The goal then was to take advantage of the excellent location to grow premium vinifera wine grapes and aspire to producing superior Finger Lakes wines. Today, the company tends a vineyard of 44 acres planted to nine varieties and operates a winery producing 7,000 cases a year.

Americana Vineyards
As a founding member of the Cayuga Wine Trail, guests have been enjoying the many varieties Americana has to offer for over twenty-five years. Their award-winning wines offer something for every palate.
Bet the Farm Winery
Their story began in 2006 with Nancy's vision -- an idea to fill a storefront in the lakeside village of Aurora on the East Side of Cayuga Lake. The initial plan was to make enough wine to "qualify" as a winery enabling them to sell food and wine on the same shelves. What has happened since then has been amazing! Each year production has grown and they continue to win awards in both local and international competitions.

Buttonwood Grove Winery
Buttonwood Grove winery has established a reputation for producing some of the most noteworthy wines in the Finger Lakes, as well as hosting exceptional events.

Goose Watch Winery
Goose Watch Winery began production in 1997 under the wings of the Peterson Family, owners of Swedish Hill Winery. With 120 acres of land overlooking Cayuga Lake, the Petersons have developed it into one of the most extraordinary wineries with a tasting room in a beautifully restored century old barn surrounded by vineyards, nut trees, gardens and breathtaking views. With an emphasis on the unusual, the Petersons strive for and have succeeded in developing a selection of wine at Goose Watch that is uncommonly found in the Finger Lakes.
