Whyte & Mackay have launched a new blended malt whisky created in honour of legendary polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. One hundred after Shackleton's historic expedition, 11 bottles of Macklinlay's Rare Old Highlight Malt Whisky was discovered in the ice at Shackleton's base camp. This has inspired blender Richard Paterson to combine over 20 Highland malts to bring together aromas of fresh green fruits, manuka honey, vanilla, banana muffin, cantaloupe, fresh herbs, spice, and a wisp of smoke. Refreshing palate of green melon, light honey, vanilla, cinnamon, cooked apple, and gooseberry, becoming sour. More complexity on the finish: spice, smoke, cooked fruits, and chalky Sweethearts candies.
